From The Founders’ Desk

Tenilola Olowu is the Founder and the very first President of our beloved society. She engineered its formation after ‘discovering’ the ADR concept while she was away from school and put everything in place for its inception on the 20th of June, 2013. We got in touch with her to give her Founders’ Address for the Blog. There is no better way to start off, right? Enjoy.

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) literally means an alternate way of settling disputes and this is basically what The Alternative Dispute Resolution Society(UNILAG) is about, looking for alternatives to the customary method of dispute resolution. At its inception, the primary objective or goal of the society was to encourage its members, students to embrace conflict resolution in a more amiable way, and this is exactly what the society is doing through member training, lectures, competitions and sensitization seminars. Let’s not forget that in today’s market, the best deals belong to those who have the ability to resolve and agree on issues, as amicably as possible. Asides the fulfillment of its primary objective, the society is also focused on bringing out the best in its members. The society welcomes individuals who share the same ideology, and if you fall into the aforementioned category of blessed individuals, you should join this society. The ADR Society will broaden your mind, teach you to think outside the box, help you learn to create win-win situations and never give up. Considering the state of the global community today, you would agree that these skills are gold to anyone who possesses them.

Warm Regards,

I’m not planning to leave without setting a structure in place. And that is what is happening now. For every house to stand firm, a foundation must be laid. It will run. The ADR society is not me, but everyone involved – Tenilola Olowu

Tenilola Olowu just recently completed her programme at the Nigerian Law School. She is currently at her NYSC Camp and although she is stressed, she is trying her best to have a good time at least. She sends her love to the society and wants all our readers to know that the ADR society isn’t any one person, “but everyone involved”.
