The Lagos Court of Arbitration (LCA) hosted members of The Alternative Dispute Resolution Society (UNILAG) at the inaugural edition of its ADR Speaker Series which held on Friday, 4th March 2016 at the International Centre for Arbitration & ADR, Lekki, Lagos.
The President of the Lagos Court of Arbitration (LCA), Mr Yemi Candide-Johnson SAN took centre stage for the inaugural edition of the event which was tagged #DiscussionWithThePresident. Mr Yemi Candide-Johnson SAN who has over 30 years experience in domestic and international Arbitration blessed his audience with every word he spoke. Asides enlightening and educating the listening audience on the basics of Arbitration and ADR, the new President of the Lagos Court of Arbitration wasted no time in informing the audience of his vision, his intended contribution to Arbitration practice as regards the Lagos Court of Arbitration and Nigeria as a whole.
One of the most notable objectives of the President is his plan to take ADR through LCA to the grassroots. He can be quoted to have used the phrase “ADR to Alaba” on many occasions. This is an objective The ADR Society (UNILAG) wouldn’t mind keying into. He also wasted no time in declaring his intentions to make the Lagos Court of Arbitration and Lagos an established Arbitration seat in Africa and the World at large.
The event came to an end after a tantalizing intellectual discourse and invited guests (including our members) were treated to an amazing dinner. The society caught up with a lecturer from the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos, Dr. Chinwuba, Megha Joshi and Mr. Tolu Obamuroh of LCA, Mr. Greg Nwakogo of Roseberg Legal Practitioners and of course, Mr Yemi Candide-Johnson SAN amongst others.
